Technology Fast 50
Canadian firms continue to sustain rapid growth and surpass prior records
Toronto, September 20, 2001— Stratos Global Corporation,
Dynex Power Inc. and Cryptologic Inc. awarded top billing by
Deloitte & Touche in the 2001 Canadian Technology Fast 50.
Toronto-based Stratos posted record growth in revenues from 1996 to 2000 at
73,068%, surpassing its second place ranking on last year’s list to grab first
place in 2001. First time recipients, Ottawa-based Dynex Power and
Toronto-based Cryptologic secured the No. 2 and 3 spots respectively with
45,574% and 23,779% growth.
“The performance of companies like Stratos and Dynex represent
the resiliency of the Canadian technology industry today,” said Garry Foster,
National Director, Technology & Communications, Deloitte &
Touche. “Canadian firms are facing the challenges associated with this
dynamic industry and are continuing to expand and grow beyond expectations.”

For the first time, Eastern Canadian firms broke into the
Canadian Technology Fast 50, highlighting the expansion of the tech sector
across the country. Knowledge House and InfoInterActive, both from Nova
Scotia, scored double-headers by qualifying as a Canadian Technology Fast 50
company and debuting among this year’s top 10.
This year’s ranking reveals Canadian firms are not only growing at a rapid pace, but are also
achieving sustained levels of growth, setting a high standard for continued
success in the face of an extremely dynamic market. Eighteen (36%) of the
2001 Canadian Technology Fast 50 recipients also placed in the last year’s
rankings. Two companies, BCE Emergis and Research in Motion
have placed each year since the program’s inception in 1998.
The Deloitte & Touche Canadian Technology Fast 50 recognizes
Canada’s fastest growing tech firms, both public and private, from all
